The techniques of pewter manufacturing have very ancient roots and the first manufactured articles were obtained by heating the metal slab, so that it could be hammerforged, in the different phases. Then earth, plaster or stone moulds were use, from which casting pewter was obtained. These moulds were then replaced by copper, bronze, cast-iron and iron. After moulding, the pewter object was finished off with a lathe, then the casting pewter details were soldered onto the base form. Pewter manufacturing has not changed much with time an even today the techniques used to make bowls, plates, cutlery, and crockery of every kind, are mainly hand crafted and artistically expressive.
